Happy Holidays - An Update from Missionary Chocolates!

Hello to you from Melissa and Vanessa, the ladies of Missionary Chocolates!

We apologize for our absence blog-wise, and will be hopping back on the bandwagon to update you on all things Missionary (on a more regular basis, of course!).

First of all, 2009 has been an amazing year for us as a company. We have grown, matured and created some incredible new flavors. Vanilla Salted Caramel, anyone??

You can now find our truffles in more Portland locations including (but most certainly not limited to): Portland Saturday Market (Hooray!!) on Sundays only til Dec. 24th, 7Planet, the world's first green general store, Local Goods, and Mystique. Of course, the Food Front Co-ops, Living Room Theater, Vita Cafe, Red & Black Cafe and the Armory Cafe are still great places to find the truffles as well.

We are gearing up for a great holiday season, so keep in mind that if you are looking for gifts, order from us at http://www.missionarychocolates.com/ and let us do the work! We will carefully packaged and ship truffles to almost anywhere - contact us for more details or special requests.

Events are a important part of making the Holiday season a sweet one, so here are some of our favorite upcoming events for November:

1st Annual Rose Festival Artisans Pavillion!

Come and join us for our debut at the Rose Festival Artisans Pavillion! The summer months are perfect for getting outiside and enjoying the best of what Portland has to offer, so add this wonderful ongoing event to your list of must-do's!

We will be at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park at SW Naito Pkwy and Yamill St the following days from 11am-11pm!

VeganSweet Tooth Review - Stogo's NYC!!

Melissa and Vanessa are thrilled to announce that we are now in Stogo's - New York City! Stogo's provides innovative vegan ice cream to tempt your tastebuds, and now they are carrying our truffles as well in their fabulous shop in Manhattan.

We have only been selling our truffles in Stogo's for a few days and already the word is out. Please see our very first review by Heather, a vegan dessert enthusiast who obviously knows good chocolate when she eats it!

TASTE TEST: Missionary Smooth Espresso Square Chocolate Truffle

Missionary Chocolates makes vegan truffles out of Portland, Oregon. I picked up their Smooth Espresso Square Truffle at Stogo in NYC. Oh manna. This truffle is ridiculous. I love espresso/coffee so of course if I were to try one truffle by this brand it would be the espresso one. The filling is so creamy and smooth. I hate when I buy a truffle and the inside is hard and sticks to my teeth. This was perfect. The outside was a perfect thin shell of dark chocolate. And the top had ground cacao nips which added a little crunch. So delicious. Oh and hello, how many times must I say this - turns out the center is so creamy because it is made with coconut milk, seriously coconut milk is where it's at!

I really have to say I am very impressed with their ability to skip over the whole "this is good for a vegan chocolate" level to the "this is a really good truffle" level. Simply amazing.

Some other truffles they have are spicy cinnamon chipotle, glorious ginger, peanut butter passion and peppermint perfection. Yum, must try them all.

Farmer's Market's 2009!

Spring is here, and Missionary Chocolates is gearing up for the Farmer's Market's! We are thrilled to announce that we will be at four markets this year, so find the location nearest you and come on down to experience the best of the season.

Eastbank Market - Our first market! We return to this wonderful location every Thursday beginning May 7th - Sept. 24th from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Located on SE 20th at Salmon between SE Belmont & SE Hawthorne - in the parking lot of Hinson Baptist Church.

King Market - We join this market every Sunday beginning May 3rd - Sept. 27th from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Located at NE 7th & Wygant between NE Alberta and Prescott Streets. Support your local farmer's!

Beaverton Market - This Wednesday Market is perfect for picking up your mid-week chocolate fix! Drop by 12455 SW 5th Street in Beaverton beginning June 21st - August 26th from 3:00pm - 6:00pm.

Montavilla Market - We invite you to explore this market every Sunday beginning June 21st - Oct. 25th from 10:00am - 2:00pm. Conveniently located at 7600 SE Stark Street, it is a great excuse to get outdoors and buy local!

Missionary Chocolates at Better Living Show!

Hello from Missionary Chocolates!

We are pleased to announce that we will be participating in the Better Living Show this year March 27th-29th.
